Say hello to Old Gold, my trusty companion. I purchased Old Gold, a 1979 Candy Limited Maroon GL1000 in 1992 with 26,500 miles Gray Vetter Fairing, Shoie Bags and a KG Trunk. She had a Hang Ten Saddle and a little bit of surface oxidation.

She cleaned up well. Over the years I have found a lot of chrome, a set of Vetter Bags, and Trunk and a Hartco Saddle. I updated the suspension with Progressive and she rides very nice now. Paint on the factory plastic is original with very little fade, I was able to find the original paint color from a paint store in Rochester, NY to finish the fairing, bags and trunk to match the rest of the bike. I have put 50,000 miles on her and continue to show and ride. I

was told that this will be the last bike I have to buy, its just broke in at 70 + thousand. I found chrome fork chaps, rotor and caliper covers as well as gauge, master cylinder, cam belt, valve cover with engraving, carburetor and modified a front fender trim piece to finish things off. I was fortunate to find many items at an auction in 1994. The back rest is from an 1100 with the bracket reversed and modified slightly for a nice fit and the comfort of back support. I have received awards from GWRRA events in New York, Indiana, Virginia, and Pennsylvania. These bikes are beautiful and seem to run for ever with a little TLC and regular maintenance. I perform service on the bike every three thousand miles, with a complete tune-up each fall before the snow falls.
