"And now,..The rest of the story."

Took my wing out for a short ride to work. On the way there, in order to keep running the way she suppose to, I had to keep the choke on. The amount of choke depended upon the rpm I ran. So when I got back home, I decided to double check the jets and make double sure I had not reversed the air jets on top. As I unbolted the intakes from the heads, and removed the intake "O" rings, I noticed that #4 was missing the "O" ring. I could not find it anywhere. I knew darn well I had installed it. I suspected that I had gotten it miss-aligned and maybe it fell into the intake. Now, I'm in a cold sweat, thinking that I just sucked an "O" ring through #4 and running through my mind how much damage that stinking "O" ring could do. I'm also suspecting that may be the reason why I have to keep running with the choke on...sucking too much air...makes sense. I figured that since I couldn't find any trace of the "O" ring, the motor had long since chewed it up and spit it out. I never heard anything that would have made me suspect it went through the motor, but who knows. So I decided to install a new "O" ring and re-sync the carbs. During the balancing a nice puff of blue smoke came from the #1&3 side and all of a sudden the sound of the motor changed. My daughter's boyfriend was with me and we both looked at each other and said, "What the heck was that ?" I finished sync-ing the carbs and took it for a spin around the block. I am happy to announce that this machine has never ran this well since I've had it. I could not believe the throttle response and it's willingness to want more. It ran so smooth and sounded so well, I'm not even considering the Invader Kit at this time. (looking around for a piece of wood to knock on) I have had so many problems with these carbs that I'm just waiting for the ax to fall. I'm not sure what the puff of smoke was but, I do suspect the Marvel Mystery Oil of doing its job and the puff was that result. At 3K - 4K rpms the carbs are balanced within 1/8 inch and at idle it's a little more than that. All evening I was in shock as to how well she ran. I still believe the idle mix is just a hair off, but after all I've been through with those carbs...that's nothing. I was so tickled with it last night that I was unbearable.

Thanks for all your help and support.

You guys are the best....

NOW LET'S RIDE.....

This is a shot of the motor showing off the stainless steel screws and new paint job.

This is the first few beats takes in her new life.

Well, this shot speaks for itself...

"The end"

ps  Oh I forgot to mention.

My daughter's boyfriend took the wing for a ride and as he was gone, I happened to find the "O" ring about 6 feet from where I was working on the bike. So it didn't eat the ring, but how it got that far away from the carbs is beyond me...

And NO she does not say "Excuse me" when she belches...she just say

"MORE".....
